// c r o s s c o u n t r y - s e a t t l e //

It's 7:30 in the morning and although both my kids are still sleeping, I seem to be wide awake.  I say "seem to be" because I can't fathom why my eyes won't give up their watch and my mind is stubbornly refusing to enter the land of dreams.  I'm pretty exhausted.  Instead, I decide to make my way downstairs.  The stairs are familiar. I grew up in this house.  My parents are graciously letting us stay here for a few days, while our apartment is getting ready.  (Thought it would be already, but not a big deal!  The boys are in grandparent heaven.)

So, I'm starting the blog posts I've been wanting to write the whole time we were on the road.  We met so many incredible families on our cross country road trip and Jimmy suggested I feature each one.  Honestly, there is so much I could say about each family I met!  So, this is a perfect way for me to write out my experience and say, "thank you!"  (to each family, all the photos are available for you to snag.)

The Johnson family.  Lauren, Jeff and Oliver!  I adore these three.  I first "met" Lauren on instagram and then on a beach in Capitola, CA.  She was visiting her family and although I would never go to the beach alone with my two boys (jimmy was working) I just had to get there.  And I'm so glad I did because from the moment Lauren showed up at my car to help me, I knew we were instant friends.  My boys are extremely high energy and throw lots of tantrums, so I always worry that people won't take the time to look past that and see the beautiful, creative, sweet boys they are.  When people like Lauren come around, and don't gasp in horror that my boys don't ever stop moving, but instead love them like they've always known them, it means the world to me.  Because of everything I've been through and all the worry I've felt, it literally brings tears to my eyes.  I have a few great friends like this and I cherish them.  So, Lauren- thank you!  From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Jimmy instantly hit it off with Jeff.  They talked music.  We even got the kids to bed early and stayed up drinking wine and talking about spirituality.  It was wonderful.  If you know us, then you know we love to get "deep."  We can be a tad "intense."  haha.  But I hope that makes us genuine. :)

And then, Oliver! Oliver is such a sweet soul and is a complete reflection on how well his parents "parent" him.  He is surrounded with love, understanding and creativity.  He is able to be himself and grow up in a peaceful environment.  Oliver loves to play his guitar AND he rocks at it!  Keep an eye on this one!  He's going places. :)  We miss these guys and cannot wait to see them next.  Hopefully it's when we take a long vacation to visit (FLY, not drive) Seattle. <3
