//Dreamers For Life//

//People will kill you over time, and how they’ll kill you is with tiny, harmless phrases, like “be realistic.//

— Dylan Moran

I've seen this quote everywhere lately.  It's gotten me thinking about this whole "being realistic" vs. going after your dreams.  We have a lot of dreams.  We are dreamers by definition and none of them are what you would call "realistic."  So many people have encouraged Jimmy to give up those dreams (maybe not by actually saying "you should give them up" but it's hinted at, for sure.)  They suggest jobs that are so far from what we love to do and they tell us jimmy should be working up to 70 hours a week.  (at the expense of spending time with his family, of course.)  But seriously, is that reality?

I can't stand for a reality like that.  It kills the artist in me.  It dries up the poetry in me and threatens all that I hold dear.  I was probably the most difficult child because of this tendency to dream and run towards feelings, however I think it has made me the very best kind of adult.  Not that I'm perfect- I'm not being overly confident, but instead, I wouldn't have my life any other way.  It sounds so corny, but seriously, we have only one life to live.  Even if it's really tough, why waste it?

I will not be killed off by silly suggestions nor will my kids feel that the most important thing on this earth is to be "realistic."  Because being a man means you work and work and work and please don't dream, right?  I don't think so and I'm so glad I found a man that can dream with me and for me.
